Understanding Grief
At Leura Memorial Gardens, we recognise that grief is a natural part of life. Loss touches every family in some way, and each of us will, at some time, face the absence of someone we love. In those moments, the mind and heart often struggle to reconcile the presence of love with the sudden emptiness it leaves behind.
Grief asks much of us — it brings powerful emotions to the surface and calls us to remember. We find comfort in sharing stories, retelling treasured moments, and recalling the impact a loved one has had on our lives. There is no set timeline for this process; grief moves in its own rhythm, just as memories return in their own time.
Though painful, speaking of our loss and sharing memories can be deeply healing. Each story — of laughter, of challenge, of love — helps us bring our loved one close again, if only for a moment, before gently placing those memories back into the heart where they will always belong.
Choosing a meaningful memorial is one way to honour this journey. It acknowledges that our loved one lived fully, created bonds, and left behind a legacy of stories and connections that continue to shape our lives.
